President's Message

Happy Fourth of July!

I hope you all have the opportunity to enjoy some well-deserved time with family and friends as we celebrate Independence Day. Summer is one of my favorite times of the year, and our family has even more to celebrate as we get ready for our son’s 2nd birthday. It’s amazing how quickly time flies, and we’re looking forward to making more special memories together.

Speaking of great memories, our last SDCOS Optometrist Mixer was an absolute hit! The Game Show Studio brought out everyone’s competitive spirit, and it was fantastic to see so many colleagues laughing, connecting, and engaging in some friendly rivalry. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make it such a fun and memorable evening.

Now it’s time to look ahead! I hope you’ll join us on July 16th for our upcoming continuing education program focused on myopia management. With the rapidly evolving landscape of myopia treatment and management, this promises to be an informative evening with valuable clinical insights you can bring back to your practice.

And the fun doesn’t stop there! Keep an eye on your inbox for details about our next social mixer as we head out to cheer on the San Diego Padres. We’re planning a great evening of baseball, networking, and camaraderie, and I hope to see many of you there.

Thank you for being part of such an incredible optometric community. Wishing you and your families a safe, relaxing, and Happy Fourth of July. I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming CE program and at the ballpark!

Warm regards,
Sloan Rajadhyksha OD, FAAO, FCOVD

Volunteer Outreach

Volunteer Opportunity: LOVC | VVSD Stand Down 2026

The Lions Optometric Vision Clinic (LOVC) is seeking volunteer optometrists for the 2026 Veterans Village of San Diego (VVSD) Stand Down, San Diego's largest annual event serving homeless and at-risk veterans.

Saturday, July 18, 2026
The LOVC will operate its eye clinic at the APT4 Music Building beginning at 8:00 a.m. and continuing through 5:00 p.m.

In previous years, the clinic has provided eye exams for more than 90 veterans in a single day. To meet this need again, LOVC plans to operate three exam lanes and is seeking at least six volunteer optometrists to provide comprehensive eye examinations.

This is a meaningful opportunity to help veterans who may otherwise have limited access to eye care and eyewear services.

Interested in volunteering? Conact Helen Quintanilla lionhelenq@gmail.com or Douglas Wahl douglas@sdlovc.org

Please consider volunteering or sharing this opportunity with colleagues.
