By: Byron Newman, OD - Public Awareness Chair
About 20 members and guests and 4 footed friends of the San Diego County Optometric Society walked for the American Diabetes Assn. at their annual 5K “Step out: Walk to fight Diabetes” on October 17th at a former Naval Training Station in Point Loma known as Liberty Station.
We were walking and raising funds for the American Diabetes Association’s signature fundraising walk, Every step we took and every dollar we raised will make a difference in the lives of 23.6 million Americans living with diabetes. It’s a fact that 1 in 3 children in the United States face a future with diabetes?
The team was one of the top fund raisers in the walk, which had dozens of teams and two-thousands walkers at the annual event, raising almost $200,000.
