The San Diego County Optometric Society (SDCOS) exists to serve the needs of Optometrists and their patients in San Diego County and outlying areas..

The Society is over 240 members strong.  Our members practice throughout the county in all modes of practice including private, group, clinic/HMO, federal/military, and educator/faculty.

In 2008, SDCOS offers its members eight continuing education (CE) and one practice management programs with nationally renowned speakers from around the country.

SDCOS members are involved in community projects, networking and camaraderie. Being a member of the SDCOS allows you to also receive membership benefits with the California Optometric Association (COA) and American Optometric Association (AOA).  Member benefits include legal, financial and insurance programs. It also promotes access to the public by listing all COA members in the toll free telephone and online “Find An Eye Doc” locator service. COA advocates for the inclusion of Optometry in managed care programs and for a position in the heath system. The COA fights in the California legislature to protect your license to practice Optometry and to enhance the scope of practice.
